Parade Guidelines
Oz-Stravaganza® is a smoke-free, vape-free, alcohol-free, drug-free, and gambling-free festival. All parade participants are prohibited from using any of these products while staging for the parade and during the entirety of the parade.
All parade units must be Oz-themed. You can use this year’s festival theme, any ideas from the entirety of the Oz universe, or through the use of colors. Traditional Oz colors are green, yellow, red, pink, black (typically paired with green), and rainbow. In addition, units are encouraged to include Oz-themed music if feasible.
a. EXCEPTION: If your unit has its own uniquely identifiable look (i.e. a Scottish Pipe Band), you are not required to have an Oz-theme. However, this should be noted on your application.
Parking
a. Parade vehicles will be allocated a location and must remain in that location until they are directed otherwise.
b. Non-parade towed vehicles (i.e. towing vehicles, trailers, animal haulers, etc.) must noted on the parade application. If so noted, we will make arrangements to park the vehicles in as convenient spot as possible. If you fail to provide this information, parking of such vehicles is your responsibility.
c. Non-parade personal vehicles, is the responsibility of the vehicle driver, or designee, to locate a legal parking spot. Note that free parking and a free shuttle are available at the high school.
d. If needed, Oz-Stravaganza® may be able to provide transportation between your parked vehicle and your staging location.
e. Under no circumstances are any non-parade vehicles permitted to park at the library or within the staging areas.
All parade units need to be present a minimum of 75 minutes prior to the start of the parade. One hour prior to the parade, the main road through Chittenango (Route 5) is closed from Falls Blvd. and Tuscarora Rd. Once closed, no vehicular traffic is permitted in these areas. There are no exceptions.
Please do your part to help keep the grounds clear of trash and debris. Trash containers are typically not available, so make appropriate arrangements to manage any trash you may create.
Candy: If you plan on tossing candy to the children, you must do so while walking. Throwing candy from a moving vehicle is strictly prohibited.
Unless invited as a special guest, all politicians must currently be in office. No political campaigning is permitted.
The following items CANNOT BE included in the parade:
• Pyrotechnics (including “snappers”)
• Tobacco products
• Alcoholic products
• Cannabis or THC products
