Friday, June 1


9:00 a.m.—Emerald City Golf Classic, Registration starts at 8 a.m., tee off at 9 a.m. Sponsored by Madison County Tourism at Woodcrest Golf Club. Contact Jim Walter with questions at 315-684-7320 x11 or jimwalter@madisontourism.com.

1–9:00 p.m.—Oz-Stravaganza! Park Opens. Some crafter/vendor booths opening and more to open on Saturday.

1-2:00 p.m.—Bob and Clare Baum Presentation. All Things Oz, 211 Genesee St., Chittenango, NY

3-8:00 p.m.—Petting Zoo open in Oz-Stravaganza! Park

4:00 p.m.—Amusement Rides open in Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Ride specials available.

4–7:00 p.m.—Spaghetti Dinner w/ Special Oz Guests. Sponsored by Wm. Cain American Legion at Chittenango High School, 150  Genesee St., Adults $7.00, Veterans $6.00, Children 6–12 $4.00, 5 and under FREE.

4:00–7:00 p.m.—Oz Souvenirs, Chittenango High School.

4-5:30 p.m.—Special Oz Guests and Author’s Alley Signing, Chittenango High School. Come meet current Oz authors and illustrators along with Special Oz Guests.

4-6:00 p.m.—Silent Auction at Chittenango High School. Includes Oz, Non-Oz items, local and national items, gift certificates & more.

5–7:00 p.m.—Postal Cancellation, Chittenango High School. Postal cancellations offered by the Chittenango Postal Service. Friday’s Cancellation is “The Wonderful Witches of Oz” designed by Dennis Kulis. Special Oz-Stravaganza! envelopes will be available for cancellation. Make great gifts and collector items, send your mail from “The Land of Oz.”

5:45–6:15 p.m.—Meet & Greet with Wicked series author, Gregory Maguire. This event is open to ONLY Meet & Greet ticket holders.

6:30–8:00 p.m.—Friday Night Program, Chittenango High School. “Wicked Evening of Entertainment,” featuring Great Grandson Bob and Clare Baum, John Fricke, and Gregory Maguire. Hosted by Emmy Award Winner, John Fricke.

6:30–9:30 p.m.—Prequel to Fireworks, Community Recognition Park, Legion Drive. Live music before the fireworks by The Sarah Horner Band at 6:30 p.m. and The Rugburn Band at 7:45 p.m.

6:30 p.m.—Hot Air Balloon lift-off, Sullivan Park, Lake Street. Weather permitting and reservations are required. Spectators welcome. Please call Dwight Cramer at 315-761-8201 for reservations.

Friday, June 1

4:45  p.m.—Chittenango High School Select Choir, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. The musical stylings of Chittenango High School’s acclaimed Select Choir singing a selection of songs hand picked for the festival. Directed by Matthew Stearns. 

6:00 p.m.—Shane Reed, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Shane has spent most of his life performing at the La Vie Boheme Bistro’s Open Mic Nights, Currently he is getting his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia, as well as a Classical/Operatic style of voice training, and hopes to soon earn Masters in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance. Shane would like to thank his family, his girlfriend, Caroline, his musical partner in Crime-Fighting, Vada March, as well as his other friends for continually supporting him and his dream.


7:30 p.m.—Mark Zane and friends, Headlining the Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park Friday night. Mark Zane was born and raised in the small rust belt city of Utica, NY and now calls its larger neighbor to the west, Syracuse, home. The struggle of life in old industrial cities can be heard in some of the songs that appear on Mark’s debut 2008 CD titled, American Hunger, and his brand new release “Walk It Off”, which features an exciting blend of folk, rock, and even a little country thrown into the original songs. 

6:30 p.m.—The Sarah Horner Band, Community Recognition Park, Legion Drive. Sarah Horner, vocals, and Greg Carroll, lead guitar, have been performing together since 2008. They have successfully broken into the music scene in multiple areas including and surrounding their Skaneateles, NY home base. With the exceptional vocal and instrumental talent of these two musicians, it’s not hard to fathom why this duo just works! The band plays a wide variety of cover tunes by artists ranging from Sugarland and Janis Joplin to Bob Marley, Aerosmith, ACDC, and Journey. 

7:45 p.m.—The Rugburn Band, Community Recognition Park, Legion Drive. From the Wind Farms of Madison County to the head waters of the Finger Lakes, Rugburn calls Central New York its’ home. Their sounds are like that of a familiar friend with a new story . . . Rock n’ Roll, Country, Rhythm and Blues, Keepin It Roots Real! The band enjoys playing, having fun, and expressing what the live music experience is all about. Members are Bruce Osterman on Guitar and Vocals, Ray Martin on Guitar, Karl Strodel on Bass, and Jay Fogus on Drums and Vocals.




Saturday, June 2


5:30 a.m.—Hot Air Balloon lift-off, Sullivan Park, Lake Street. Weather permitting and reservations are required. Spectators welcome. Please call Dwight Cramer at 315-761-8201 for reservations.

7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.—ALL YOU CAN EAT Pancake Breakfast.  First Presbyterian Church, 118 Arch St., Chittenango, at Oz-Stravaganza! Park grounds. Oz Authors will be present.

10:00 a.m.—Oz-Stravaganza! Park Opens. 

10:00 a.m.—Munchkin Mile Kid’s Fun Run, Chittenango Fire Dept. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m., Actual Run starts at 11:00 a.m. $6 pre-registration, $8 for late/day of race. Free t-shirts for the first 100 entries. All runners will receive a free amusement ride ticket and children are encouraged to stay and march in the parade at 2 p.m. (Sponsored by John Wilcox)

10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.—NEW EVENT, Horse Rides & More. Munchkinland, Stickles Park.

11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.—Gregory Maguire Book Signing. Author of Wicked Series,at All Things Oz, 211 Genesee St. Chittenango, NY

12:15 p.m.—Costume Contest, Munchkinland (Stickles Park). Dress up like Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, The Wicked Witch, Glinda, Munchkins or any other Oz book/movie characters. Registration starts at 12:15 p.m., judging starts promptly at 12:45 p.m. NOTE: Awards will be presented immediately following judging in Stickles Park. (Sponsored by Chittenango Lions Club)

12:30 p.m.—An Original Oz Skit by the youth of the First Presbyterian Church.  FREE, 3 performances 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church at Oz-Stravaganza! Park. At all the performances there will be a bake sale to support Ronald McDonald House.

1–4:00 p.m.—Postal Cancellation, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Postal cancellations offered by the Chittenango Postal Service. Saturday’s Cancellation is “Good Witch vs. Bad Witch” designed by Autumn J. Evans. Special Oz-Stravaganza! envelopes will be available for cancellation. Make great gifts and collector items, send your mail from “The Land of Oz.”

2:00–3:00 p.m.—2012 Oz-Stravaganza! Parade. Grand Marshal, Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked Series. (Sponsored by Redwood Bar & Grill). Along with Special Oz Guests. Theme: “The Wonderful Witches of Oz.” Music filled parade with Ozzie floats, animals, marching units and more! Parade route is downtown Chittenango (Genesee St.) starting at Sullivan Free Library and continuing north to Oneida Savings Bank. 3:30–5:00 p.m.—Autographs with Special Oz Guests, Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Meet and Greet with renowned Munchkin Margaret Pellegrini, Munchkin by Marriage, Myrna Swensen, Bob & Clare Baum, John Fricke, Caren Marsh-Doll.

Saturday, June 2

11:00 a.m.—Cartoon & Magician Mike Carter, Munchkinland, Stickles Park.

12:00 p.m.—Aesh & Ryan, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. After meeting 3 years ago on the stage and discovering they were musical soulmates, they became best friends. It wasn’t until an impromptu performance at an open mic night that they really discovered their performance chemistry. Over the years, Aeshly and Ryan have built a friendship that is translated into their music. Their musical influences include artists such as Lady Antebellum, Ingrid Michaelson, and most prominently the award-winning folk duo The Civil Wars.

3:45 p.m.—The Hooky Brothers, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Singer-songwriter-guitarist-record producer Chuck Schiele recently moved back home to Central NY after 30 years in San Diego, California where he enjoyed a robust music career. Recently Chuck joined artistic forces with drummer percussionist Phil Smith who is originally from Maine. Together, these guys draw on their collective wealth of musical experiences to create a unique update to the musical scope of something familiar. Original music and selected cover material by two guys who play like 4.

5:00 p.m.—Vada March, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. According to 17 year old singer-songwriter Vada March, music is a form of expression that allows her the chance to share feelings she might not be able to express in normal conversation.Vada has grown to appreciate and continues to learn about a plethora of different genres of music and artists, listing Adele, Adam Lambert, Demi Lovato, Siobhan Magnus, and Muse as some of her biggest inspirations.

6:00 p.m.— Fab Five Paul–The One Man Acoustic Beatles Tribute Band, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. For over 9 years, Hofner Beatle Bass player Paul Davie created and led one of the best Beatles Tribute Bands in America—THE FAB FIVE—to the ‘toppermost of the poppermost’. In that time, the lads from Liverpool, N.Y., USA performed from Louisville KY to The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. He also regularly opens for top ‘British Invasion’ artists, and occasionally sits in with Bad Finger.

7:30 p.m.—National Recording Artist Grayson Hugh, Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Grayson Hugh’s first album, “Blind To Reason”, came out in 1988 went on to have two gold records and three radio hits. In 1989, after his single “Talk It Over” became a Top Twenty hit on the radio, he began headlining his own concerts. During this time he also appeared on several network television talk shows, including The Today Show, The Byron Allen Show and, in London, England, The Wogan Show. 3:30 p.m.—Chittenango High School Wind Ensemble–Directed by Aaron Velardi. Main Stage, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. This special performance group from the high school will be doing their traditional kick off to the Grand Finale of the Oz-Stravaganza! Festival. 

3:30 p.m.—Grand Finale, Main Stage at Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Don’t miss the CHS Wind Ensemble and a  special Grand Finale as we end our year of “The Wonderful Witches of Oz.” Send off our Special Guests in a wonderful, traditional way and help us remind them that there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME...IN CHITTENANGO!



Land of Oz Passport
June 1–2


Visit the designated sight-seeing stops in Emerald City, get your passport stamped at each and you might receive a gift from the business. Present your completed passport to the Baum’s Bazaar in Oz-Stravaganza park before 5 p.m., Saturday, June 2. If you have 22 circles stamped you will receive a souvenir Oz gift. If you have all 30 circles stamped you will receive a gift and qualify for entry into a drawing for a special prize. As you get your passport stamped at the various stops, solve the Chittenango / Oz message. Download passport at the bottom of this page.
