Friday, June 6, 2014


All Things Oz Museum & Baum’s Bazaar Gift Shop Hours

(Noon– 5:00 p.m., 219 Genesee St. 

Chittenango, New York)


1–9:00 p.m.—Oz-Stravaganza! Park Opens. Some crafter/vendor booths opening and more to open on Saturday.

2:00-7:00 p.m.Information Booth, Greater Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce. Be sure to pick up a Land of Oz Passport at the All Things Oz Museum or at the information booth in Oz park. Complete your passport and win prizes.

4:00 p.m.—Amusement Rides open in Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Ride specials available.

5:00 p.m.—Chicken Barbeque, Parking Lot of the American Legion, Legion Drive, Chttenango, NY.

4-5:30 p.m.—Special Oz Guests and Author’s Alley Signing,
Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Come meet current Oz authors and illustrators along with Special Oz Guests.

4-7:00 p.m.—Silent Auction at Glinda’s Royal Tent located in Oz-Stravaganza! Park, Downtown Chittenango. Includes Oz, Non-Oz items, local and national items, gift certificates & more. Be sure to get raffle tickets for the handmade Oz Quilt.

5–7:00 p.m.—Postal Cancellation, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Postal cancellations offered by the Chittenango Postal Service. Friday’s Cancellation is “Timeless Oz” designed by Autumn J. Evans Osinski. Special Oz-Stravaganza! envelopes will be available for cancellation. Cancellations make great gifts and collector items, send your mail from “The Land of Oz.”

6:00–8:30 p.m.—Friday Night Program, Oz-Stravaganza! Park, Downtown Chittenango

6:30–9:30 p.m.—Prequel to Fireworks, Community Recognition Park, Legion Drive. Live music before the fireworks at 6:30 p.m. with The Rugburns and Spectrum. Enjoy a chicken barbeque while listening to the music.

6:30 p.m.—Hot Air Balloon lift-off, Sullivan Park, Lake Street. Weather permitting and reservations are required. Spectators welcome. Please call Dwight Cramer at 315-761-8201 for reservations. 

9:30 p.m.—The “Ozsome” Oz Fireworks, Community Recognition Park, Legion Drive, Chittenango. Food/beverage will be available.

All Things Oz Museum & Baum’s Bazaar Gift Shop Hours (11:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m., 219 Genesee St. Chittenango, New York)

10:00 a.m.—Oz-Stravaganza! Park Opens. 

10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.—History Display. Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Includes Chittenango, Baum, and Oz History.

10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.–—A fun filled day at Oz-Stravaganza! Park including continuous live entertainment on the main stage, games, vendors/crafters, Oz souvenirs & memorabilia, a wide variety of food, snacks, and beverages. Many children activities. Special Guests in Glinda’s Royal Tent. 

11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. –—Meet and greet with Ryan Jay at the “All Things Oz Museum ”

11:00 a.m.—Royal Historian of Oz Writing Contest Awards. Ceremony on the main stage in Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Winning stories will be read by Special Oz Guests. 

11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.—Silent Auction in Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Includes Oz, Non-Oz items, local and national items, gift certificates & more.

Noon—Amusement Rides Open, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Ride specials available.

12:00 p.m.—Coloring Contest Awards. Ceremony on the main stage in Oz-Stravaganza! Park. (Sponsored by The Wilson Insurance Agency)

12:30–3:00 p.m.—Author’s Alley Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Meet with renowned Oz authors and illustrators, (Tom Hutchison, Gwendolyn Tennille, Ron Baxley, Jr., James C. Wallace II, Kenneth L. Doane II, Ethan Tarshish, and Dick Mickelson). They will have their books available for sale and signing. 

1:00–3:00 p.m.—Autographs with Special Oz Guests, Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Meet and Greet with Munchkin by Marriage, Myrna Swensen, Bob & Clare Baum, Roger and Charlene Baum, John Fricke, Christianna Rickard, Ryan Jay, Paul Miles Schneider, Jonathan Shirshekan, Aaron Harburg

3:30 p.m.—Grand Finale, Main Stage at Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Send off our Special Guests in a wonderful, traditional way and help us remind them that there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME...IN CHITTENANGO!

Saturday, June 7, 2014


7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.—ALL YOU CAN EAT Pancake Breakfast.  First Presbyterian Church, 118 Arch St., Chittenango, at Oz-Stravaganza! Park grounds. Oz Authors will be present.

10:00 a.m.—Oz-Stravaganza! Park Opens. 

10:00 a.m.—Munchkin Mile Kid’s Fun Run and New TOTO’s Toddler Trot, Chittenango Fire Dept. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m., Actual Run starts at 11:00 a.m. $7 pre-registration, $10 for late/day of race. Munchkin Mile Run race route is approximately 1 mile and will begin and end at the Chittenango Fire Department in the heart of the Village of Chittenango (417 Genesee St.) 

Toto’s Toddler Trot is an approximately 1/4 mile fun/walk. Toto’s Toddler Trot Race begins at 11 A.M. Munchkin Mile Run begins at 11:15 A.M .

Free t-shirts for the first 100 entries. All runners will receive a free amusement ride ticket and children are encouraged to stay and march in the parade at 2 p.m. (Sponsored by Chittenango Physical Therapy, Chittenango Rotary)

10:00–11:00 a.m.—Cartoon Magician, Mike Carter, Munchkinland, in the Gazebo, main stage in Oz-Stravaganza! Park.

10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.—History Display. Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Includes Chittenango, Baum, and Oz History. 

10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.—Oz-Stravaganza! World Record Attempt for the Most People Dressed as Characters from the Movie “The Wizard of Oz”— All participants must be wearing costumes of characters from the orginal movie “The Wizard of OZ.” These include (but are not limited to): Dorothy, The Wizard of OZ, The Scarecrow, The Cowardly Lion, Uncle Henry, Glinda, The Tin Man, Nikko, The Wicked Witch of the West, Auntie Em, Toto, The Munchkins

The costumes worn must be the full costume and participants must be instantly recognizable as the character they have chosen. All characters chosen must be from the original movie 

“The Wizard of OZ.” Adaptation characters are not permitted.

Gathering time—starts at 10 a.m. (be one of the first ones to be counted) please be on the Football field before 11:30 a.m. All participants must be in position simultaneously and remain so for a minimum of five minutes... (Chittenango World Attempt will do this from 12:00–12:05p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Chittenango High School Football field). All paid costumed people MUST be on the football field for this time period—group photo required.

NO live animals or high heel shoes permitted on football field or track.

Closing Time: Approximately 12:30 p.m.

10:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.—Silent Auction in Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Includes Oz, Non-Oz items, local and national items, gift certificates & more. 

11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.—Children’s Author Kenneth L. Doane II Book Signing. Author of Billy’s Bully, at All Things Oz, 211 Genesee St. Chittenango, NY

Noon—Amusement Rides Open, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Ride specials available.

12:00 p.m.—Balloon Walk, Genesee St. across from Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Cost is $3.00.

1–4:00 p.m.—Postal Cancellation,

3:30–5:00 p.m.—Autographs with Special Oz Guests, Glinda’s Royal Tent, Oz-Stravaganza! Park. Meet and Greet with Munchkin by Marriage, Myrna Swensen, Bob & Clare Baum, Roger and Charlene Baum, John Fricke, Christianna Rickard, Ryan Jay, Paul Miles Schneider, Jonathan Shirshekan, Aaron Harburg
